On 26 August 2026, a large-scale ice-rock avalanche in Nepal triggered a debris flow that struck Gyirong Port in Gyirong County, Shigatse, Tibet, resulting in significant casualties, missing persons and infrastructure damage. The sudden disaster has drawn widespread concern for the safety and well-being of those affected.

In response, China Medical System Holdings Limited (CMS) acted swiftly to support emergency relief and recovery efforts, donating RMB 1 million in cash through the Tibet Autonomous Region Charity Federation to the disaster-affected areas of Gyirong County, Shigatse, Tibet. The donation will support emergency rescue operations, resettlement for affected residents and post-disaster reconstruction, providing tangible support to frontline responders and the basic living needs of the affected population.

The pharmaceutical industry was born out of the need to save lives, and it gains its humanity through its commitment to protecting them. Guided by its founding commitment to “fulfill social responsibility and safeguard life and health,” CMS integrates a reverence for life into its corporate responsibility. Offering help in times of crisis is both an act of solidarity and a fundamental duty for pharmaceutical companies.

CMS extends its deepest condolences to those who lost their lives and pays tribute to all personnel working tirelessly on the front lines of rescue and relief. We hope the affected communities can heal and rebuild their homes soon.

Though miles apart, we stand together. CMS will continue to monitor developments and recovery progress, standing with the affected communities to overcome this difficult time and fulfilling its responsibility as a pharmaceutical company through concrete action.
